The first topic in this book talks about saints in the old testament who were devoted to *Praying in faith*, it is one of the chapters of the book that highlights how all the old testament saints prayed in faith and received answers to their prayers.
From a young leader like Joshua who instructed the sun and the moon to stand still and they obeyed ! (One of the saints, I would love to meet in heaven) to Hannah, the woman that prayed with so much conviction and got lost in the spirit that a prophet thought she was drunk to a man of unusual strength, Samson himself.
Out of the aforementioned individuals from valid sources,a story that strikes with me is that of Samson, aside the popular story of falling prey to the witty abilities of a women, permit me to take it from a different yet succinct, he was a man that took the jawbone of a donkey/ass and with it he killed about a thousand persons so he as expected after fighting and defeating all those people, he was thirsty so by faith such that when he is surrounded by enemies of the Israelites, his fellow nationals, all around, he was in close relationship with God by prayer to the point that God provided water for him out of that same jawbone!!!
So fast forward to when he let out the secret of his power(Lesson to be learnt), he knew the secret of his power had come out and the Philistines his enemy were ready to kill him, his eyes taken off, hands and feet chained, it was the end for him after all the battles he has fought.
So the tradition of the philistines was to publicly show an enemy and in some cases sacrifice an enemy to their gods, they flung into celebration mode to enjoy the sights of seeing their long time enemy in a helpless situation, he was chained and to the pillars and on a lighter note, some person could have taken selfies with him in his pitiful state if they had camera phones.
Solomon was a man that despite his mistake has walked well enough with God to know that all he need is to pray to God in faith to receive answers. So, in the midst of the mockery and celebration of victory over him, he mustered strength and prayed, the bible says in Judges 16 vs 28 that he prayed that God should strengthen him just one more time and immediately he prayed to took action. (Your Faith in God is proven by the steps you take, by the words you speak, by things you do even in difficult situations), as soon as he prayed, he knew God heard and answered him so he with his two hands on the pillars, pushed and destroyed the pillar that was carrying 3000 men and women!!! Interestingly, the people he killed there at that point were more than all he has ever killed before that time!
2Chr.7.14 – If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Now watch this, this happened in the old testament, now imagine what we have as Christians operating in the new covenant, we are empowered by the Holy Ghost to live above sin and even when we do, we have forgiveness of sins, Halleluyah!
One thing to note is FAITH IN PRAYER, the man believed that if he prays he will receive and truthfully he did all the time.
Another example to look at quickly before we wrap up this book is Abraham, in other words called the Father of Faith.
Reading this book has made me see what really made him that man of Faith that he was. There is an underlying factor in the life of Father Abraham, He was devoted to communication with God through prayers.
Before he took a step, he had supernatural leading from God, his relationship with God was built by consistent prayers, I mean at every point in time, he could know clearly that this was God leading me, why? He has a good relationship with God via prayers.
Just as communication between helps us to bond as humans, so does prayer connects a between God and man #thinkaboutit
He was a man that we could say had his way with God, for instance, in the book of Genesis when God was blessing him and didn’t bless Ishmael because Ishmael was not God’s plan for him, he prayed that God should spare him and HE did!
By prayers, Abraham got out of trouble, saved himself and his wife from someone that could have cheated him easily without questioning, so God answered Abraham’s prayer in such a way that the king now had to meet him to pray to be healed of a sickness that we can say Abraham caused.
Could it be that you’ve been getting into trouble and making so many avoidable mistakes because of your prayer levels?
Could it be that your are under receiving what Christ has made available for you because you don’t commune in prayers well enough?

Oh, for determined men and women, who will rise early and really burn for God. Oh, for a faith that will sweep into heaven with the early dawn and have ships from a shoreless sea loaded in the soul’s harbor ere the ordinary laborer has knocked the dew from his scythe or the peddler has turned from his pallet of straw to spread nature’s treasures of fruit before the early buyers. — Homer W. Hodge
